Definition

Canadian slang for sharp, often humorous taunts or trash talk—especially in hockey; to “chirp” is to deliver such jabs, and “chirping” is the act.

"Nice chirp, bud—try scoring before you run your mouth."

"The ref told both benches to knock off the chirping and play the whistle."
