Definition

Colloquial contraction of “drowning”; slang for being overwhelmed or swamped by something, or, in hip‑hop fashion slang, flaunting so much “ice”/drip that you’re figuratively submerged.

"Between work, classes, and rent due, I'm drownin' out here—can't even catch a breath."

"He pulled up to the party drownin' in ice, diamonds dancin' like he brought a whole wave with him."

"My phone won't stop buzzing; I'm drownin' in emails and DMs after that post."
